CIAA tournament launches app
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association mobile application for its 2018 men’s and women’s basketball tournament has launched and is ready for fans to download via iTunes and Google Play. The free app was designed in partnership with Aloompa. The tournament will take place in Charlotte from Feb. 27 – March 3.
Browns get oriented with FanCompass
The Cleveland Browns have entered into a three-year marketing agreement with technology partner FanCompass, a digital destination for sponsored fan engagement. The California-based company works with teams in 11 professional sports leagues.
Chargers gain official bank
Pacific Premier Bancorp, the holding company of Pacific Premier Bank, is partnering with the Los Angeles Chargers. Pacific Premier Bank will be the official business bank of the Chargers. The bank holds the same designation with the Anaheim Ducks.
AEG, United Rentals partner
AEG launched a partnership with equipment rental provider United Rentals. This agreement, brokered by AEG Global Partnerships, makes United Rentals the exclusive equipment rental partner to select AEG venues, festivals and sports franchises. AEG will leverage United Rentals to supply equipment for large-scale sporting and entertainment events.
Acordis joins Heat’s roster
The Miami Heat signed a multiyear partnership with Acordis Technology & Solutions. Acordis will continue managing the organization’s technology needs, including printing and copying. The company will receive courtside signage and will be a participating sponsor in sweepstakes for Heat home games.
Jabari Parker gives back
For the third consecutive year, Milwaukee Bucks forward Jabari Parker donated turkey dinners to 150 Milwaukee-area families at Capuchin Community Services’ House of Peace site the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Parker provided guests with all the food necessary for a complete Thanksgiving dinner and distributed the meals with former Bucks guard Michael Redd.
Grocery chain attains three partnerships
The Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Lynx and Iowa Wolves are all partnering with Hy-Vee to be the teams’ official grocery, pharmacy and floral partner. The partnership includes a digital signage takeover in arena prior to, during and immediately following the opening tip for all three teams’ regular-season home games. Hy-Vee will also have digital signage on the exterior of Target Center and additional signage in-arena throughout the games.
Warriors debut alternate jersey
The Golden State Warriors debuted the team’s alternate black jerseys featuring “The Town,” a tribute to Oakland. The NBA team plans to wear the jerseys for most Saturday regular-season home games and select road contests, according to The Undefeated. The jerseys feature an oak tree, symbolizing when Oakland was inhabited by a large forest of oak trees.
Soccer teams partner with Ticketmaster
Ticketmaster announced an extended multiyear partnership with Orlando City Soccer Club, home of Orlando City SC and the NWSL Orlando Pride. Ticketmaster will serve as the official ticketing and technology partner for all live events at Orlando City Stadium.

Magic Community Ambassadors Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw, team staff, the Magic Dancers and volunteers served Thanksgiving breakfast to more than 700 homeless men, women and children at the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. The team has been serving the less fortunate on Thanksgiving morning for 25 years.
Entercom on board for 2018 with Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles and Entercom Communications Corp. announced a seven-year agreement to extend their 25-year partnership with SportsRadio 94.1 (WIP-FM) beginning with the 2018 NFL season. Entercom merged with CBS Radio last month.
76ers, Australian company’s new deal
The Philadelphia 76ers unveiled a multiyear partnership with Four’N Twenty (Patties Foods Ltd.), an Australian-based company that produces beef pies, the country’s national dish. The agreement marks Four’N Twenty’s first sponsorship of a U.S. professional sports team and is the 76ers’ first international corporate partner.
Women’s championship gets new home
The USGA announced Woodmont Country Club as the host site of the 120th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, scheduled for Aug. 3-9, 2020. This will be the first USGA championship contested at Woodmont, which has hosted U.S. Open sectional qualifying for 30 of the last 31 years.
USL gives Blockparty tailgating rights
Blockparty entered into an agreement with Tampa-based United Soccer League to become the official tailgate services supplier of all related properties, including the United Soccer League. Blockparty will have exclusive rights to temporary and pop-up hospitality both inside and outside all venues for the USL Cup Playoffs and other league-governed activations.

FIFA World Cup's newest state-of-the-art stadium
|The Ras Abu Aboud Stadium is the seventh venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The whole stadium will be built using modular building blocks, each containing removable seats, concession stands, lavatories and other stadium elements. One of the design’s key elements will be the use of shipping containers as building blocks. The World Cup will take place from Nov. 21-Dec. 18, 2022.
Cricket league’s new media partner
The England & Wales Cricket Board announced a six-year broadcast rights agreement with beIN Media Group for international and domestic cricket coverage in the Middle East and North Africa. The deal gives beIN Media Group the rights to screen coverage from all of the ECB’s home international men’s and women’s series as well as its domestic competitions through the 2024 season.
Host city named for world champs
Nanjing, China, was named host of the 2020 IAAF World Indoor Championships, according to Inside The Games. The IAAF Council meeting in Monaco chose it ahead of the event’s two other bidders — Torun, Poland, and Belgrade, Serbia. Nanjing, a city of more than 8 million, staged the 2014 Olympic Youth Games and will build a stadium specifically for the world indoor championships in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park.

POCOG aligns with Airbnb
Airbnb signed an agreement with the Pyeongchang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Games to handle the influx of visitors, according to Inside The Games. Earlier this year, Airbnb signed an agreement with Gangwon Province, where Pyeongchang is located, to provide lodging for the Olympics.
