ESPN's Elle Duncan is among the media personalities that 3 Kings represents
Blue Equity, LLC, a private equity firm, has acquired DC-based 3 Kings Entertainment, a broadcasting talent agency, which represents more than 100 media personality clients, including news anchors and reporters, weathercasters, sportscasters, correspondents and studio hosts. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The acquisition is part of a move by Blue Equity to build a new sports and entertainment platform. 3 Kings was founded in '03 by Matthew Kingsley. Clients include ESPN's Elle Duncan, Doug Kezirian and Zubin Mehenti, Fox News' Anna Kooiman and Clayton Morris, CNN's Andy Scholes and HLN's Mike Galanos, among others. Blue Equity Chair & Managing Dir Jonathan Blue said the client diversity of 3 Kings will complement the full-service platform the company is working to build. “We plan to grow the company by giving Kingsley access to our extensive network, providing back office services to streamline his enterprise and implement a more formal structure to an already efficient organization,” Blue said. Louisville-based Blue Equity previously built Blue Entertainment Sports Television, which included major NBA, NFL and tennis practices as well as divisions involved in the production and marketing of events and media through a series of acquisitions. BEST was sold to Lagardère Group in '10. Blue Equity was under a five-year noncompete agreement, which prevented it from creating another sports and entertainment company through rollup acquisitions, but that agreement expired in '15.

RIGHT FIT: Kingsley said he had been previously approached by sports and Hollywood agencies about an acquisition, but he did not see a fit. “After meeting Jonathan Blue, I knew that I wanted to be in business with him and his organization, especially after seeing what he was able to accomplish in building the BEST platform,” Kingsley said. “His vision for the future of the talent representation industry aligns with mine. Also, I recognized that this partnership will give 3 Kings Entertainment a bigger platform, better access and greater opportunities for my clients.” Blue Equity began its recent acquisition session by acquiring Maxx Sports & Entertainment in November ’15.
