MLB Attendance Up 6.2%; NL Has Six Clubs With Double-Digit Percentage Gains
Published May 23, 2012MLB teams are averaging 29,943 fans per game to date, up 6.2% compared to the same period last year. The Phillies lead all teams with 44,981 fans per game at Citizens Bank Park. That figure is at 103% capacity for the venue, but average attendance is down slightly from the same period in '11. The Marlins are seeing the biggest MLB gains during the club's first season in their new downtown Miami ballpark, with average attendance up 69.6% to date. Other NL clubs seeing double-digit gains at the gate are the Cardinals, D'Backs, Nationals, Reds and Pirates. The Astros are seeing the sharpest drop to date among NL clubs, down 9.3% at Minute Maid Park.
