NASCAR Teams With Twitter, Aims For Enhanced Live Viewing Experience
Published May 22, 2012NASCAR is the first league to team with Twitter for an enhanced live experience
TWIN CITIES, TWIN PROMOTIONS: The T’Wolves and WBNA Lynx on Friday announced the development of the teams’ official social media hubs, #WolvesNation and #LynxNation, the first of their kind in the two leagues. The social media tags consolidate the buzz around each team -- all #TWolves and #LosLynx tweets, mentions, posts and likes -- into one platform while allowing users to interact with each other and earn rewards. The development commenced with the launch of #LynxNation last Sunday. The #WolvesNation site will go live in mid-June, just before the ’12 NBA Draft (T’Wolves).
SOCIAL MEDIA RECRUITS: In Atlanta, Michael Carvell asked some of the nation’s top college football coaches, “How big of a role does Social Media play in their current recruiting efforts?” Univ. of Virginia's Mike London said, “I’m on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and you name it. … You will find out more about guys on Facebook and Twitter sometimes than you will having a 10-minute conversation with them because a lot of times they will let their guard down and show a side maybe you haven’t thought about before.” Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin said, “It’s a pretty big deal. I’ve been on Twitter for a long time. For me, it’s an ability to deliver a message, to get information out about our program not only to recruits but our fan base and alumni. The price is right, too. It’s instantaneous” (AJC.com, 5/21).
