Total Sports has partnered with wireless services
provider Air2Web to create a wireless application for sports
fans to receive scores and news on their digital cell
phones. Fans can sign up for the service at
www.totalsports.net (Total Sports).
QUOKKA ZONES OUT: Quokka Sports has signed a definitive
agreement to purchase ZoneNetwork.com, producer and owner of
MountainZone.com and SkiResorts.com. The all-stock purchase
is valued at $25M (Quokka).
NOTES: NFL Senior VP/New Media Chris Russo said that
traffic on NFL Internet sites reached record levels in
January. NFL.com reported more than 2.9 million unique
visitors, while Superbowl.com recieved 1.2 million unique
visitors (NFL)....A live, bi-lingual chat session hosted
Wednesday by the Rangers helped generate the largest
audience for an NHL chat to date with 636 logins
(Rangers)....Media Metrix reports that ESPN Internet Group's
reach has increased 38% over the past six months
(ESPN)....N.Y.-based NetCreations, which provides Opt-In
email marketing services, has added CBS SportsLine to its
Internet ad network of partner Web sites (NetCreations).
